Featuring - Nolan Neiman - Millersville University

Nolan Neiman is in his first year with Millersville University as an assistant coach.

Neiman comes to Millersville after two seasons at the University of Maryland. He succeeds Chris Shehan, who moved on professionally. He joins Shehan, who is entering his fifth year as the head coach, as well as pitching coach Bob Preli and graduate assistant Miles Gallagher.

“Nolan’s reputation precedes him,” said Shehan. “He has experience at many different levels--from Division III all the way to the ACC. He brings with him a level of energy and competitiveness that will only make our program better.”

At the University of Maryland, Neiman’s responsibilities included coaching the catchers and hitters, coaching third base on game days and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the team. He arrived in College Park after spending the 2009 season as the assistant coach at the Florida Gulf Coast University, where he helped guide the Eagles to a 36-18 overall record.

During his time at Florida Gulf Coast, Neiman helped develop Chris Sale, who was the first round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2010.  Prior to his stint at FGCU, Neiman spent two seasons as the assistant and recruiting coordinator at his alma mater. Along with him the team to a Freedom Conference Championship, he helped 15 players to all-conference honors and coached back-to-back conference rookies of the year.

Before joining the Bulldogs, Neiman served as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he served as the head coach for the New Market Rebels in the Valley League in 2008 and the Limeport Milkmen in 2007. Overall Neiman has seen 28 former players sign professional contracts.

“From a recruiting standpoint, Nolan has worked nationally as well as regionally,” said Shehan. “Because of his familiarity of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York, I believe he will make an immediate impact when it comes to bringing in national championship caliber prospective student-athletes. I am absolutely thrilled to have him join our already strong coaching staff here at Millersville.”

As a player at DeSales, Neiman’s teams won four consecutive league titles and reached the NCAA regional tournament all four seasons. He was the Freedom Conference Player of the Year as a junior. He also played professionally for the New Jersey Jackals of the Cam Am League.
